Comical. Of course the economic situation is difficult but from there to a regime crisis is a long way. Do you know Russian History, Prof Timothy Carton Ash? Are they easily bent by adversity?
In my modest in length lifetime the Russian empire has collapsed ‘unexpectedly’ twice- once in 1991 and then agin in 1998.
Now I am patiently awaiting another “surprise’, because, to borrow Viktor Chernomyrdin’s quip, the Russians try for the Best, but it turns out as always!
We are observing a geopolitical checkmate, wrapped as a drone revolution, inside a slow motion ‘Eureka’ moment!
With news like that, Tim, your "French" sounds pretty good to me.
But what Ukraine needs even more (in the short term) than Russia's current and looming economic problems and more drones is for the West (and especially the U.S.) to crack down on the producers and vendors of all those critical components that Russia uses to produce its missiles and drones. In addition, if all those nations that are cheering Ukraine on from the bleachers were to transfer or can produce the additional "Patriot -type missiles that Ukraine needs (e.g., Japan and South Korea), the war would end even sooner.
Without defense against Putin's missiles, he has good reason to believe that his missiles (much less so his drones) can still dominate the skies over Ukraine, and that there is little that Ukraine can do to stop him. Ukraine's domination of the skies over Russia, with the ability to protect its own skies, will leave him no alternatives.
